[Sample] A placeholder post to test the reading experience

Sample content for testing typography, images, code and quotes. Delete or unpublish this from the CMS before launch.

contents

This is a sample post. It exists only so the design can be tested. It isn’t a real article, and it should be deleted (or switched to unpublished) from the CMS before the site launches.

This paragraph shows what normal body text looks like. Long-form writing gets a readable column, proportional type, and a comfortable line height, even though the rest of the site wears a terminal costume. Here is an internal link to the archive and an external link for comparison.

Headings and structure

Second-level headings get a quiet ## marker, a nod to the Markdown underneath. Third-level headings get ###.

A smaller heading

Lists work the way you’d expect:

  • An unordered item
  • Another item, with bold and italic text
  • A third one with inline code
  1. First step
  2. Second step
  3. Third step

Images

Images uploaded in the CMS go into the media library and display at the column width:

Quotations

A blockquote looks like this. It’s set apart with a rule on the left and a slightly softer colour, so a borrowed thought reads differently from your own.

Code

Code blocks are syntax-highlighted. In the CMS editor, type three backticks followed by a language name and a space (for example ```js) to start a highlighted block:

// A placeholder snippet
function openLoop(thought) {
  return { thought, closed: false, startedAt: new Date() };
}

const loops = ['books', 'research', 'side projects'].map(openLoop);
console.log(`${loops.length} loops open`);
# Another placeholder snippet
def close(loop):
    loop["closed"] = True
    return loop
